Evidence-based lying

During the COVID pandemic catastrophizing politicians used the phrase "evidence-based decision making" to justify draconian measures for which no such evidence existed. Swap the word evidence with consensus and you'll be closer to the truth. And consensus is always how radical social collectivists propagate their revolutionary ideology to capture the minds and hearts of an unwitting populace they intend to herd like blind 🐑 to the abattoir. Now we are finally beginning to see the full extent of the economic and social damage resulting from their idiotic policies of shutting down the economy, paying people to sit at home doing nothing while closing businesses, and ordering billions of dollars of unused medical facilities to be constructed and purchasing unused paraphernalia while simultaneously printing money out of thin air.

Whenever you hear the political class use “evidence-based” to justify draconian measures you know that evidence is the last thing they took into consideration. Let me be clear, I am NOT saying that COVID didn’t pose a threat nor am I saying that using the least polluting forms of energy while mitigating damage to the environment isn’t good for the eco-sphere. What I am saying is that they use these excuses in such a manner that doesn’t really mitigate the problem and use real problems to undermine a capitalist economy. For destroying capitalism was their real goal. Moreover, in the case of COVID it now appears as real evidence emerges that our governments cooperated with a laboratory under the control of the CCP to create a bioweapon for that sole purpose. And even if this wasn’t their goal, the policies pursued by politicians who are under the sway of Beijing have resulted in accomplishing just that, a complete undermining of our economy and way of life. For the first time since WWII our children face a far less prosperous future than their parents due to the draconian and illiberal authoritarian policies of governments who have rejected out of hand Classical Liberalism in favour of a system of complete state control which altogether too closely resembles that of Beijing.

And the most vulnerable, marginalized, and impoverished, the very ones that evidence-based decision making proves are at greatest risk of the elite’s draconian measures to mitigate real problems will suffer the most while the socialist elite will continue to live in unearned privilege as they feed off the decaying carcass of a once vibrant Western World. Nero fiddles, Rome burns, and the citizens are left to live in the broken ruins of a civilization brought into decline by its venal, corrupt and power mad leaders who have the gall to tell us that we have never had it better!

But what evidence-based conclusions can be made of President Biden’s visit to Ottawa last week, since he was accompanied by a 75-vehicle motorcade and gave a speech to the Canadian Parliament in which he thanked China for “stepping-up” then corrected himself to say Canada only to add you know what I was thinking? The elite’s cognitive dissonance is so great that their own faux pas are dead give-aways that we are being governed by an utterly glib autocratic class who mean nothing of what they say. These narcissists exist purely to justify the unholy despotic hold on the power they need to crush the hopes, dreams, and aspirations of the little guy.

Orwellian terms are de rigueur in Justin Trudeau's postmodern dystopia

The greatest unsolved mystery to be explained today is how society writ large has come to believe in mutually exclusive propositions. Underlying these contradicting narratives is the belief that life is a zero-sum game. This idea has undermined every institution which exists to protect our liberties and our Common Law legal system. As a result, radical pathological ideas have infected the thinking of the vast majority of those holding public office, of those running our bureaucracies, as well as of those who are administering our schools and universities. The political and administrative class have demonstrated a willingness to go to almost any lengths in redistributing and reallocating resources while waging war on what just yesterday was considered even by them to be normative. Remember their famous phrase during COVID lockdowns of the “New Normal”? They do this despite the negative impact on the economy, the middle class and the poor and dispossessed. Worse, they do so in such a manner which almost always benefits them and their powerful allies who are invariably enemies of democracy like the CCP. The elite appear to be completely willing to sacrifice the most vulnerable among us on the pagan altar of what their ideology falsely calls "progress"!

And foremost among them are the globalist climate catastrophizing elite who hate Jordan B. Peterson more than they hate Donald Trump. In a vodcast entitled, “Jordan Peterson Just EXPOSED The Whole DAMN THING!” Dr. Peterson lays out in brutal detail what I came to realize in Norway a decade ago. These ideologically possessed fools are creating the very problems they have the unmitigated hubris to claim only they can solve. But it doesn't end there, they do so while claiming humanity is a blight on the planet. These Neo-Marxists are Malthusians who use the democratic process to usher in total government control of humanity yet have the gall to deny they're Marxists while claiming that destroying democracy is in fact democratic. I know them. I've dined with them. I've listened to them moralize while telling me that their illiberal authoritarianism was "progress". Yet I give them this, they believe in the veracity and sanctity of their own faux moralizing in spite of the fact of the glaring contradictions inherent in it. These people can hold two or more mutually exclusive propositions in their minds simultaneously without having their heads explode from cognitive dissonance!

You may watch that video at the following link; https://youtu.be/VxT3IkO4Ghg

In summation we are living in a society which never questions anything too deeply, ignores contradictions in the new orthodoxy of their social engineering narrative which has been created by an elite class who look out only for themselves while mischaracterizing those of us who can provide factual evidence that they are lying to return us to economic servitude, moral turpitude, and spiritual apostasy.

A few days ago, Britain’s Spectator magazine did a tremendous job of summing up all the intrigue, machinations, politics, and noise surrounding Chinese interference in Canadian elections.

And it came to a remarkable conclusion.

“There are those who bemoan declining trust in our leaders. Here we see the damage that can be done by a leader who does not trust the public,” wrote their correspondent Sam Dunning. “(Justin) Trudeau did not trust Canadians to know that the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) may have forked out $1 million in an effort to gain his affection; that Canadian security officials believe a serving MP is a tool of Beijing; or that Canadian voters of Chinese descent feel intimidated by the CCP in their own country; or that visiting Chinese students were allegedly told by the Chinese embassy to go out and campaign for his party or be sent home for punishment.

When was the last time you used the term “Big Brother” or “Thought Police?” Did you know that both phrases come directly from George Orwell’s classic dystopian novel 1984? Orwell’s dark cautionary tale published in 1949 about the dangers of totalitarianism, government surveillance, and censorship left a profound mark on the English language, as Orwell introduced readers to new words and phrases to help him describe the anti-utopia of Oceania where the story is centred. Many of these terms are still commonly used today.

The following is a compilation of Orwell’s short vocabulary from his novel 1984, a cheat sheet to jog your "memory hole" from the high school literature you were likely required to read.

Big Brother: the personification of the unseen monolithic leader of the Party of Oceania.

Doublethink: the act of simultaneously accepting two mutually contradictory beliefs as correct. According to Winston Smith, the protagonist of 1984, doublethink is “To know and not to know, to be conscious of complete truthfulness while telling carefully constructed lies, to hold simultaneously two opinions which cancelled out, knowing them to be contradictory and believing in both of them, to use logic against logic, to repudiate morality while laying claim to it, to believe that democracy was impossible and that the Party was the guardian of democracy, to forget whatever it was necessary to forget, then to draw it back into memory again at the moment when it was needed, and then promptly to forget it again, and above all, to apply the same process to the process itself—that was the ultimate subtlety: consciously to induce unconsciousness, and then, once again, to become unconscious of the act of hypnosis you had just performed. Even to understand the word—doublethink—involved the use of doublethink.” Four examples of doublethink used throughout 1984 include the slogans: War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, Ignorance is Strength, and 2 + 2 = 5.

Memory hole: a small chute leading to a large incinerator. Anything that needed to be wiped from the public record (embarrassing documents, photographs, transcripts) would be sent into the memory hole. As a clerk in the Records Department of the Ministry of Truth, Winston Smith often has to throw things into the memory hole to revise history and keep current with the ever-evolving Party dogma.

Newspeak: a purposefully ambiguous and confusing language with restricted grammar and limited vocabulary used in Oceania, according to Orwell, “to diminish the range of thought.” For example, in newspeak, the term plusgood had replaced words better and great.

Thinkpol: a newspeak word to describe the secret police of Oceania, who are responsible for the detection, prosecution, and elimination of unspoken beliefs and doubts that contradict the Party. They use audio-visual surveillance via the telescreens and offender profiling to monitor the populace.

Unperson: someone whose existence has been excised from the public and private memory in Oceania.

Unpersoning is something I am all together too familiar with. Many of my old acquaintances from the roots music scene will no longer have anything to do with me given my outspoken opposition to radical ideologies that falsely pass themselves off as being liberal. Since I am a Classical Liberal in the English sense, I find the mischaracterization of a word which once stood for liberty one of the many Orwellian aspects of Postmodern society.

#JustinTrudeau, I found a Scripture perfectly defining your reign of tyranny:

Proverbs 29:1-4 Warnings and Instructions

1 A man who hardens his neck after much reproof Will suddenly be broken beyond remedy.

2 When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, But when a wicked man rules, people groan.

3 A man who loves wisdom makes his father glad, But he who keeps company with harlots wastes his wealth.

4 The king gives stability to the land by justice, But a man who takes bribes overthrows it.

And Trudeau has taken millions in bribes from the Chinese Communist Party whose very ideology stands in diametric opposition to every foundational principle upon which the Canadian government was intended to be built. May God Himself vindicate this broken nation and judge Trudeau for his godless double speak where he expects the Canadian people to believe in mutually contradicting things!

The hardest truth of all

Few if any will heed what I am about to say. That is a given. The cost is far too great for most. Nevertheless, these truths are essential for us to come to terms with since they lie at the heart of the human condition. How do we develop a far more sophisticated idea of what constitutes evil since what we are witnessing today is evil on a global scale for perhaps the first time in human history? The evils of the First and Second World Wars and the subsequent conflicts of the twentieth century were the result of ideologies colliding which cannot peacefully coexist. But at the heart of those ideologies lays something far deeper, a sense of what constitutes the fallen nature of man. To understand this, we must first understand our own fallen nature. To many if not most the concept of original sin will seem archaic and outdated. And this is the great dilemma humanity faces. For 1500 years the idea of original sin resided at the very heart of Western philosophy which in turn defined our need for redemption. In the case of the West that redemption was to be found at the Cross where the blameless offered Himself up for the sin of the world. This was not to save the world collectively but rather to save every individual who became aware of their sinful nature to find salvation in Christ through a revelation of the finished work of His Cross.

But therein lies the problem today for to develop a more sophisticated idea of evil we must first confront our own wickedness. In this sense everything that happens is in some way my fault since the sin which others commit are the same sins which reside in me. Arrogance, ignorance of our own failings, false pride, narcissism, covetousness, lust, envy, projection, malice, the carnal desire for power and control, laziness which are summed up by the seven deadly sins of pride, greed, wrath, envy, lust, gluttony, and sloth. These sins stand in opposition to the seven capital virtues of chastity, temperance, charity, diligence, patience, kindness, and humility. Church teaching focused particularly on pride since it is believed to be the root of all sin because pride turns the soul away from God; and, on greed and covetousness as both of these underpin all other sins.

And so, I must tell you something which few will wish to hear. You will come to understand the depths of your own sin upon having a revelation of Christ crucified and resurrected. When Saul of Tarsus was on the road to Damascus, he was knocked off his ass when he had his revelation which sent him into repentance, fasting, and prayer.

From Acts 9 King James Version:

1 And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest,

2 And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.

3 And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:

4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

6 And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.

7 And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man.

8 And Saul arose from the earth; and when his eyes were opened, he saw no man: but they led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus.

9 And he was three days without sight, and neither did eat nor drink.

10 And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord.

11 And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth,

12 And hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight.

13 Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem:

14 And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy name.

15 But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:

16 For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake.

In Chapter One of Paul’s Epistle to the Galatians describes Paul’s conversion as a divine revelation.

Galatians 1 King James Version

1 Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;)

2 And all the brethren which are with me, unto the churches of Galatia:

3 Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ,

4 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

5 To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:

7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

11 But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.

12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

13 For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:

14 And profited in the Jews' religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.

15 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace,

16 To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:

17 Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.

18 Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days.

19 But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother.

20 Now the things which I write unto you, behold, before God, I lie not.

21 Afterwards I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia;

22 And was unknown by face unto the churches of Judaea which were in Christ:

23 But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed.

24 And they glorified God in me.

You see, to have a revelation of Christ crucified and resurrected disabuses us of any misapprehension about how good we are since Paul had more reason than most to think of himself as being good. Prior to his conversion he lived according to Hebrew law which had led him to persecute the Church whose existence was the very fulfillment of the law which Paul claimed to follow!

The result of revelation is an overwhelming awareness of one’s own sin!

From Isaiah 6:  King James Version

6 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.

2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.

3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.

4 And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.

5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.

6 Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:

7 And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.

8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

9 And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.

10 Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.

11 Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate,

12 And the Lord have removed men far away, and there be a great forsaking in the midst of the land.

13 But yet in it shall be a tenth, and it shall return, and shall be eaten: as a teil tree, and as an oak, whose substance is in them, when they cast their leaves: so the holy seed shall be the substance thereof.

So, the price you will pay for developing a more sophisticated concept of evil comes at the certain knowledge of our own carnal nature. And out of it a coal from off the altar of God will change forever our conversation to focus on our Redeemer. Once we see ourselves in the blinding light of God’s Holy presence, we will know who and what we really are. In this revelation we will also discover why those is power today are completely unaware of the depths of their own prideful wickedness. They have rejected the need for the Divine and in doing so emulate the false pride and vanity of their father who claimed that he would make his throne ascend above that of God’s. And the Western Church today is largely failing in its Divine mission to lead mankind to repentance even as it adopts apostate false doctrine in complete contradiction of Scriptural truths. And so the West falls to the very toxic ideologies which make man his own god.

And the result of this Apostate ideology can be found in the book of 2 Timothy 3:

1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. 9 But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was.

This is a pretty accurate description of the world today; lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, and despisers of those that are good. The West has entered very dark times indeed and who among you are willing to pay the cost of discovering your own fallen nature in the light of the redemption of Christ which would allow you to understand why we are here and what can be done to solve our cultural crisis?

The smelly petty orthodoxies contending for our souls and ruining our lives

“Daring as it is to investigate the unknown, even more so it is to question the known.” – Kaspar

It is my opinion that we must treat the West today as a crime scene. The scene of the crime are the floors of legislative bodies and the victims are the citizens whom the ruling elite seek to return to serfdom. Our leaders are portraying the greatest improvement of the human condition as the rape of the planet and the common person as the despoiler. Since for the first time in human history all our governments have torn the same page out of a hysterical dystopian playbook and are using it to forcibly confiscate our freedoms and our wealth.

One of the purposes of the scientific method of inquiry is to provide a means by which we can analyze the smelly, little orthodoxies which contend for our soul. Given the fact that the principal motive of the political class is not to improve society despite all their assurances of promoting social progress - since any real progress is almost invariably a mere by-product of very few of their actions – but rather to increase their own hold on power, why do the ruled who are far greater in number, accept this state of tyranny? Machiavelli identified several contrivances employed by the ruling elite to increase their power including coercion, trickery, subterfuge, the collusion of crony capitalism amounting to fascism, and the self-serving reallocation of capital expropriated by excessive taxation and fiduciary easing. But none of these contrivances alone could affect cementing their rule nor would it permit them to sink their talons into every cloying aspect of society without the existence of an overarching fallacious narrative. Today this has resulted in the elite promoting quasi-religious radical and fanatical ideologies to advance their revolutionary agenda. Note the hysteria around climate change, COVID policies, and the smelly, petty-bourgeois orthodoxy of the DIE religion of diversity, inclusiveness, and equity.

As evolutionary psychologist Dr. Gad Saad asserts, “At the root of the DIE religion is the unflappable and irrational belief that societies must exhibit equality of outcomes on every possible human endeavor.  When this cancerous objective is not met, it is presumed that the sole possible explanation is institutionalized bigotry.  Of course, people with functioning brains recognize that most complex phenomena are multifactorial in their causes.  In other words, a disparity in outcomes is likely caused by a large number of factors of which institutionalized bigotry might be absent from such a list.  For the readers interested in the pernicious effects of the DIE religion and its attack on the meritocratic ethos, please read The Parasitic Mind: How Infectious Ideas Are Killing Common Sense.”

And so we see how the elite have created an ideological orthodoxy which cannot be questioned. In order to legitimize themselves the governing class invariably rely on proliferating ideas favourable to their objectives to convince the masses of the necessity of their rule, or as David Hume wrote: “It is therefore on opinion that government is founded; and this maxim extends to the most despotic and most military governments, as well as to the most free and most popular.” - David Hume, Essays Moral, Political, Literary. And this is how an ideologically possessed power mad political class have used their revolutionary ideology so that it would become mainstream orthodoxy in order to cement their control over us! And their orthodoxy smells like shit!

'the smelly little orthodoxies which are now contending for our souls'

By Peter Boettke

·       University Professor of Economics and Philosophy, George Mason University

·       Director of the F. A. Hayek Program for Advanced Study in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics, Mercatus Center at George Mason University

Dr. Boettke writes, “The quote above comes from George Orwell's essay on Charles Dickens.  Orwell describes a true liberal as a bold intellect that is equally hated by all those 'smelly' orthodoxies of their day.  A person of free intelligence who writes openly and without fear and is generously angry with the prevailing falsehoods of the day.

One of the gems from the James Buchanan archives is a 1982 paper of his that picks up on this Orwell theme and applies it to the experiences he and his colleagues had to face in pursuing the public choice research program in economics and political science.  The essay is titled "The Dishwater of Orthodoxies" and he claims that the orthodoxies he faced in methodology of the social sciences, the method of analysis in the social and policy sciences, and implications of that analysis for political economy and social philosophy while not "smelly" was nevertheless dangerous.  The reason why the orthodoxies he and his colleagues faced didn't smell is because they weren't alive enough to stink, the orthodoxies Buchanan faced were "dull, dead, drab, dirty."  But as Buchanan is quick to point out, one can drown in dishwater nevertheless.

It is the dull, dead, drab and dirty dishwater of social scientific orthodoxy mid-20th century that had to be resisted, and effectively drained away so that a new science of association among free and responsible individuals could be developed.  Those who held as sacrosanct the efficacy of majoritian democracy or the necessary efficiency of modern bureaucracy had to be disabused of such notions.  This requires disruptive intellectuals.  Those who are comfortable in their academic life don't want to permit the methodological re-evaluation required.  They resist change and seek to cast out the heretic.  But as Buchanan points out, when the only recourse left is dismissive name-calling, that means the heretic has won because the opposition is out of genuine argument.

"The genuine innovator-entrepreneur," Buchahan writes, "who seeks to challenge, to stir up the dishwater of the orthodoxy, must expect to counter resistance at every stage. At best, he and his fellow [heretics] can hope to find academic settings that are temporarily congenial to their efforts, settings that encourage those who dare to be different."

The context of this essay is the last Liberty Fund sponsored summer conference in Blacksburg, as Buchanan and his colleagues at the Center for Study of Public Choice had recently decided to leave VPI and relocate at GMU.  There is a sort of "edge" to the essay, but an edge that in the context makes perfect sense, and as with Orwell's description of Dicken's Buchanan is being generously angry and not at all gratuitously angry, and he is writing openly, without fear, and embracing his responsibilities as a person of free intelligence.  This is the James Buchanan I had as a teacher --- Dare to be Different --- was his motto to all of us, but also he made us believe that our job wasn't either to ignore the dishwater let alone to merely learn to swim in it, but instead to stir it up, and to unclog the drain so it could be washed away.

As I read these various pieces from the Buchanan collection, I am transported back in time to a young man in his early 20s trying to figure out how to be a professional economist.  How amazingly lucky was I that I had James Buchanan, Gordon Tullock, and Kenneth Boulding to learn from?!  Of course, my other teachers such as Bob Tollison, Karen Vaughn, Viktor Vanberg, and of course my advisor Don Lavoie taught me so much. But to have your professor win the Nobel Prize, and then to have the AEA Distinguished Fellow and the 2nd John Bates Clark Medalist reinforce the message that your job was to stir up the dishwater of the orthodoxy and to unclog the drain and wash the dull, dead, drab and dirty water away.  We never wanted to be like Harvard-MIT crowd because the Harvard-MIT crowd constituted the dishwater of the orthodoxy.

I am not sure as a teacher I have been able to instill in my students this same sense of urgency in challenging the prevailing orthodoxy -- especially in more recent years as opposed to my earlier years at GMU and with students from the period 1998-2005.  Post-2005, I often wonder if the practical advice about how to exist within a profession defined by the dishwater has been taken as a lesson in swimming rather than stirring things up.  If it has, that was a mistake.  Reading Buchanan inspires and reminds me of the sense of purpose he instilled in us as students.  Boulding, as well, taught us about the sheer joy of learning and the urgency of the problems we were attempting to tackle.  And Tullock, well Gordon, his great strength was to suggest complete irreverence for anything established (or not established).”

I hope my students --- past, present, and future --- are generously angry and willing to stir up the dishwater of the orthodoxy, and unclog the drain and wash the dull, dead, drab and dirty away and substitute in fresh thinking in methodology, methods of analysis, and bold implications for political economy and social philosophy.  There are plenty of "smelly little orthodoxies which are now contending for our souls" that must be challenged anew by mainline economic thinkers.”, end quote

The solution is to ensure only the truly competent get to lead

Social engineering types (for that is all they are capable of engineering) love to use the word "sustainable" which implies stasis. In a competitive world where stasis doesn't exist the ONLY way for processes to be sustained is through continuous improvement which comes at the cost of showing do care for your workforce by empowering them with the tools and information to do their jobs correctly the first time. As importantly continuous improvement must focus on the customer to ensure your products and services both meet and exceed their expectations in order to remain competitive and profitable. Examine these statements in light of the present idiotic use of the word sustainable to understand why what is currently being done by the incompetent fools in charge cannot be sustained, doesn't support those entrusted with the processes, and in no way shape or form places the needs of the end user at the fore. Sustainable? There is no stasis in an ever changing and competitive world!

Journalists: All three parties have signed up well-known journalists, but the NDP has the most (13), including columnist Linda McQuaig, writer Noah Richler and former Radio-Canada broadcaster Anne Lagacé Dowson. The Conservatives have seven, including former Calgary Herald editor Joan Crockatt. The Liberals have four, including business writer and editor Chrystia Freeland. Law: The Liberals have about twice as many lawyers (62) as the Conservatives (29) and three times as many as the NDP (21). The NDP figure includes one retired judge. It should be noted that many candidates went to law school but fit bet in other categories. Other/Could not be determined: Some MPs couldn’t easily be classified, including a small number of religious officials, social workers and Liberal astronaut Marc Garneau. Others had occupations that couldn’t clearly be identified. This category was split between Liberals (41), NDP (58) and Conservatives (34). Policing and Military: There are nine current or recently full-time military members. Five are Conservatives, four are Liberals and none are running for the NDP. The Conservatives have attracted the most police officers (8), although the Liberals and NDP each have a couple too. Students: The NDP has 12 students running, while the Conservatives have six and the Liberals two. Most are from Quebec, where the NDP had trouble recruiting more experienced candidates last election, and where the Conservatives still have trouble finding candidates. Trades and Manufacturing: There aren’t many blue-collar workers aiming for seats, and most of them have chosen the NDP (10) over the Conservatives (2) or Liberals (1). This group includes electricians, carpenters, transit workers, mechanics, factory workers and more. Many are also union representatives. Labour Organizations: Twenty-one people who work full-time for unions and labour organizations have opted to run, and 20 of them are NDP candidates. The other is Conservative Michael Chong, who worked for the National Hockey League Players’ Association. Research by Emerson Brito

Problem solving our cultural crisis

There is an adage which goes, “Any fool can tell you what's wrong, but it takes an expert to fix it.” Prior to my retirement I taught problem solving to industry. It's an effective methodology used in determining root causality for problems that occur in a manufacturing or service process. There have been some attempts made to apply these principles to government particularly in state run health care, but few have been applied effectively largely due to the inherent cancerous and metastasizing nature of bureaucracy. Since we are faced with a crisis that is literally deconstructing limited constitutional government under the rule of law and parliamentary oversight, it's time to resurrect how to do a root cause analysis of where we have come as a society. We need to know why our government is failing us, and how to apply the cooperative effort needed to address these failures using what is known in as a Kaizen effort. I think the most important aspect of Kaizen is that it is a discipline using clearly defined methodologies which seek to address the root causes of issues quickly, effectively, where they occur, and most importantly it engages all involved in managing problems to address them with documented corrective actions. This allows for a military like precision to be applied without muddying the waters with overly emotional reactions from stake holders which allow politics to affect how problems are to be analyzed and resolved.

It is interesting to note that much of problem-solving methodology was created by military analysts. Oddly there seems to be a reluctance among military leaders today to apply the training that they have received. This is indeed peculiar since it affords us a practical way to solve the exact problems with which we are confronted which are resulting in a loss of our ability to defend our borders, as well as our ability to defend ourselves from enemies both foreign and domestic.

Given what we now know about the CCP funding Canadian politicians who Beijing felt were sympathetic to it and the resulting outcome of their interference on our elections in 2019 in 2021, we have no time to waste in addressing this problem. This issue affects our ability to ensure that our government answers only to the Canadian people rather than to totalitarian foreign interests. It is literally painful to watch Hansard and hear the moronic, hyperemotional discussions that occur on the floor of parliament from politicians who sit on both sides of the aisle. Our Prime Minister engages in bafflegab to confuse the Canadian electorate while refusing to answer questions directly. Our politicians lack of ability to defend our democracy in the face of foreign intervention is nothing shy of or less than treason.

So, in an attempt to address my first assertion regarding why any fool can tell you what the problem is but it takes an expert to fix it, Kaizen efforts remove the singularity of having only one expert. A Kaizen team is just that, a team. A team who are trained to sniff out waste, excessive cost, and unwanted variation in order to assign documented corrective actions to the problems our nation faces. It removes ego from the equation in order to focus only on what went wrong and its solutions. It does not assign blame rather it assigns the means by which the root cause for issues can be addressed at their source, where they occurred, in as timely a manner as possible the moment an issue is identified.

And since politics is all about protecting fragile egos and bureaucracy is all about passing the buck while defending the sanctity of bureaucratic fiefdoms, there is little, if any, hope for change in such a system. The system itself is inherently flawed due to the natural tendencies inherent to each branch of government and its bureaucratic administration. An independent ombudsman known for their ability to train in and use Kaizen problem solving must be appointed by an independent parliamentary committee to manage this Kaizen process of analysis. His or her office must be created in such a manner that it will remain independent of any hint of influence from the executive branch of government as well as from the Clerk of the Privy Council so that the ombudsman may act independently to assess accountability, assist with team Kaizen efforts in each department and then report directly to an independent parliamentary committee which cannot recuse itself due to parliamentary privilege.

A tall order? Yes, very, but given the depth of our constitutional crisis, I honestly cannot see any other process sufficient to even begin to resolve how deep the systemic issues are in our current system of government.

The Liberal Party's race to rock bottom

I have been listening to former Liberal Party hacks like Warren Kinsella decrying how radical the party has become and call for a return to the centre (whatever that may mean). In a recent article in the Toronto Sun entitled “MY LATEST: JUDGE JUSTIN” Kinsella writes, “You can’t judge yourself. More specifically, you’re not allowed to decide – or control, or influence – a case in which you are one of the main players. In law, that’s as basic as it gets. The Bible says we can and should judge ourselves, yes. It’s in 2 Corinthians 13:5, where it goes on about “testing yourself” and “examining yourself.” But that’s not the law. The law is quite clear: no one is permitted to stand in judgment of themselves. In law, it is a principle that has been around for centuries. There’s even a Latin phrase for it: “Nemo iudex in causa sua.” That essentially means “no one should be a judge in their own cause”. It’s an ancient principle of what is called natural law – the unchanging moral principles that serve as the basis governing all human conduct. Natural laws are considered so fundamental they cannot ever be debated. In Canada, the notion that no one should have the power to judge themselves is seen in section 21 of the Conflict of Interest Act. That law reads: “A public office holder shall recuse himself or herself from any discussion, decision, debate or vote on any matter in respect of which he or she would be in a conflict of interest.” The “public office holder,” here, is one Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada. The “discussion or debate,” here, is the interference of China in Canada’s federal elections in 2019 and 2021.”

Has Kinsella forgotten that a downhill slide begins at the top of a slope and proceeds further downward as every inch of high ground is given way due to the very force of gravity causing the descent? The LPC has for decades led a fanatical race down said slope toward the lowest common denominator. They are the political party largely responsible for waging war on competence itself. Therefore, the very folks who started the downhill slide are now complaining where the race to the bottom is taking them. The fact that they are complaining about what they began exhibits arrogance and a total lack of self-awareness on their part. And people like Kinsella are responsible for the demise of their own party!

But in this period of governmental overreach and incompetence which borders on criminality let us examine the proper functioning of each branch of government to determine where and why we are losing the high ground. The Executive Branch of government is responsible for delivering programs and services to the population within the framework of laws, expenditures, and tax measures approved by Legislature. Keep in mind approved by the Legislature since it ought never act on its own accord without proper parliamentary oversight. Canada is a constitutional monarchy and a parliamentary democracy, founded on the rule of law and respect for rights and freedoms. The government acts in the name of the Crown but derives its authority from the Canadian people. But can we say that Trudeau with his constant betrayal of our trust has the support and the confidence of the majority of Canadians? Or even of the lower house if his government were not falsely being propped up by the NDP?

Canada’s parliamentary system stems from the British, or “Westminster,” tradition. Parliament consists of the Crown, the Senate, and the House of Commons, and laws are enacted once they are agreed to by all three parts. Since Canada is a federal state, responsibility for law-making is shared among one federal, ten provincial and three territorial governments. The judiciary is responsible for the interpretation and application of the law and the Constitution and for giving impartial judgments.

A cursory glance at these statements clearly demonstrates where the system of governance in Canada has become corrupted by virtue of ignoring these clearly defined functions and limitations placed on each branch of our constitutional form of government. The Westminster System we inherited from our ancestors serves to both limit government while defending the inherent rights of each citizen without prejudice. Which is why Diversity, Inclusivity, and Equity cannot peacefully coexist or function within a parliamentary system which must by Rule of Law remain blind to our identity by treating all identically under the law. The LPC has deliberately torn the blinders from Lady Justice’s eyes to undo centuries of the progress of liberty.

For in the past, we find there was greater awareness of the need for treating all identically under the law than we do today. Following Simcoe's work precipitated by the Chloe Cooley incident in Niagara, our first Legislative Assembly in Niagara on the Lake, then Newark, passed the Act Against Slavery in 1793, the first legislation to limit slavery in the British Empire; the English colonists of Upper Canada took pride in this distinction with respect to the French-Canadian populace of Lower Canada. The Upper Canadians valued their common law legal system, as opposed to the civil law of Quebec, which had chafed them ever since 1763. This was one of the primary reasons for the partition of 1791. Simcoe collaborated extensively with his Attorney-General John White on the file.

“The principles of the British Constitution do not admit of that slavery which Christianity condemns. The moment I assume the Government of Upper Canada under no modification will I assent to a law that discriminates by dishonest policy between natives of Africa, America, or Europe.” — John Graves Simcoe, Address to the Legislative Assembly

D.I.E. recreates the very prejudices that John Graves Simcoe sought to address 232 years ago in 1791 even as it affords unconstitutional powers to the State to engage in policies that damage the Rule of Law while vilifying that portion of the population who have been here longest. Since those who are engaging in these policies are lawyers like Kinsella they are obviously as aware as I am of the damage one does to our heritage and inheritance by mischaracterising and alienating substantial portions of the population who value our sacred institutions and do not want to see them corrupted by radical identity politics.

Return to the centre? Let me be absolutely clear, since we have descended into a chasm with a rapidity which leaves me dizzy by what means are we to scale back up a slope so steep that rappelling ropes, climbing gear and mountaineering training would be required to scale back up the rocky face of ruin without causing an avalanche which will cast us even further into the depths of WOKE insanity? The values espoused by John Graves Simcoe are the very values which built this land. They exist in complete contradiction to the values being espoused by the current executive branch under Trudeau and most parliamentarians. If we cannot manage to utterly reverse the ideological attack on the very principles which created Magna Carta, English Common Law, and the Westminster Parliamentary System then Canada will soon become utterly unrecognizable and completely unreconcilable with remaining a proper constitutional democracy.

Where is the outrage Canada?

Where is the outrage? Why aren't people willing to take back proper parliamentary oversight of this nation?

RE: The collapsing COVID narrative?

The Apocalypse is always revelatory by revealing what was always there; corruption, convergence of interests, and alliances driven by the motives of power and profiteering required to play zero-sum games! These alliances are invariably fascistic and coercive coalescing when a combination of the state and big business deliberately disseminate disinformation to force the citizen's compliance to their self-serving demands. To accomplish this fear mongering and the threat of force are used to cow the population into involuntary obedience. Which is why we were NEVER all in this together! This compelled outcome is the diametric opposite of free market Capitalism where all parties benefit from transactions based upon the exercise of free will rather than requisite compliance.

I don't count the news as news and haven't done so in decades. Those of us who did our homework knew there was something fake about the pandemic narrative which was used to lock us down even as the globalists in the guise of investment bankers, Big Pharma, and Big Government colluded with the CCP to use an artificially manipulated virus as an excuse for the largest transfer of wealth in all of human history. Then they had the gall to promise this betrayal was an opportunity to build back better while assuring us we would own nothing and be happy.

Now that legitimate questions are being asked and now in part actually being answered as to the circumstances around the origins of the pathogen, I wonder how it remains possible for those of you who believed the lies you were being fed by our government, globalist organizations such as the WHO, WEF, et al can continue to place any credence in the massive conspiracy perpetrated against you aimed at robbing you of limited constitutional government under the Rule of Law and proper parliamentary oversight? The resulting cognitive dissonance from the latest revelations regarding the lab in Wuhan and Canada's involvement with it must be sufficient to make your heads implode. How do you account for these latest revelations when two years ago people like me warned you that you were being lied to and you called us kooks for caring enough to share what we had uncovered?

"The world's ten richest men more than doubled their fortunes from $700 billion to $1.5 trillion —at a rate of $15,000 per second or $1.3 billion a day— during the first two years of a pandemic that has seen the incomes of 99 percent of humanity fall and over 160 million more people forced into poverty."

I TOLD YOU SO! DEMOCRACY CANNOT FUNCTION PROPERLY WHEN CITIZENS BLINDLY PLACE THEIR FAITH IN THE STATE!

And this blitzkrieg against our very sanity goes on unabated, and on every front. Whether it is climate change, sexual deviancy, or covid, the tactics used to push these narratives are invariably enforced, compulsory, obligatory, mandatory, involuntary, exacted, coerced, imposed, demanded, compelled, required, requisite, stipulated, dictated, ordained, prescribed, necessitated, unavoidable, inescapable, and de rigueur. Just yesterday on International Woman’s Day Trudeau engaged in social engineering by pushing Cultural Marxist Critical Theory on us when he asserted that cross dressers (for that is what they really are) are bona fide women. This is his twisted and insane idea of how to empower women by declaring that surgically altered cross-dressers are unadulterated women! He does this so as to weaken the nation. Undoing our very evolutionary biology leaves us impotent in the face of a full-blown Marxist takedown of the West since if we can believe that men can be women, we will also surrender all other rational thought to the state’s artificial dictates. Do you think they don't know the genetical difference between the sexes in China? No, that would damage the CCP. This is the poison Marxists like Trudeau feed to us to utterly undermine the nuclear family, and real femininity and masculinity! Is there any wonder then why this man is deep in bed with the murderous tyranny of Beijing whose ability to compel the Chinese citizens with despotism can turn the nation around “on a dime”? Remember Trudeau’s won words, “There is a level of admiration I actually have for China because their basic dictatorship is allowing them to actually turn their economy around on a dime and say we need to go green, we need to start, you know, investing in solar,” Justin Trudeau stated, “There is a flexibility that I know [Prime Minister] Stephen Harper must dream about: having a dictatorship where you can do whatever you wanted, that I find quite interesting.”

Trudeau has taken seven years to turn our economy into a debt-ridden ruin where bureaucracy and overregulation are killing the very spirit of free enterprise along with undermining a sound energy policy which would respect the environment while utilizing Canada’s vast resources responsibly. It is fascinating to note that if China had access to the enormous oil reserves with which Canada has been gifted, they sure wouldn’t be leaving them in the ground.

So, Canada where is the outrage? Why aren’t we laying siege to our sacred institutions to wrestle them back from the ideology possession of radical neo-Marxist sympathizers like Trudeau. Our nation is under the control of Xi Jinping, and I assure you that he is eyeing our resources to exploit them just as he has already leveraged the LPC to manipulate every single Canadian. No wonder the LPC is filibustering parliament so that the full extent of China’s influence over our government cannot come to light! Write your MP’s to demand transparency via a thorough investigation of Chinese influence over our electoral process! It would appear many of them forgot long ago who they actually are supposed to be working for!
