I often emphasise the need for deep analysis of the culture
wars we find ourselves mired in. Nothing this pervasive came about overnight
nor can we rid ourselves of this prevailing mindset simply by voting for
politicians whom we deem to be more favourable to sound government. The belief
that there are dark impersonal forces driving human history rather than by individual
agency has been around for centuries. It originated with the determinists and
the Marxists. WOKE ideas are the postmodern legacy of the philosophies of Kant
and Hegel who rejected the importance of individual human agency in shaping human
progress. To these determinists the individual exists merely as an extension of
the State as an agent of its spirit or Zeitgeist.
Which is why I guarantee that few, if any, reading this blog
would be able to accurately define the difference between fascism, communism
and indeed, Wokeism. After all, they all have their ideological origins in
Kant's and Hegel's determinism. Both assert that the individual exists only as
an extension of the State run collective and its Zeitgeist. Total centralized
control is the shared goal, and the differences between them are mere
ideological window dressing. So, every movement is susceptible to becoming the
thing it despises. Nietzsche said it best, perhaps: “Whoever fights monsters
should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster.” The power
theory they employ is a warning that every system will ultimately create a
subsystem that initially makes rules that are good for the system they seek to
create, but, eventually, that governing subsystem will make rules that benefits
only itself. Hence George Orwell ended Animal Farm with the obscene image of trans-pigs
emulating their human oppressors. And the real tragedy is that this prevailing
dialectical spirit of our time has replaced the Holy Spirit. As a result,
mankind has surrendered itself to the tyranny of Satanic deception. Woke is a
cult of secret hermetic knowledge which claims we can become our own gods by
transcending the limitations of Christian morality and our very human biology,
just as the Serpent hissed to Eve in the garden:
Genesis 3 (King James Version)
1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the
field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God
said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the
fruit of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the
garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest
ye die.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely
die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then
your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food,
and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one
wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her
husband with her; and he did eat.
7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that
they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves
aprons.
At risk of causing offence, I have noted that young women
are particularly susceptible to this manner of ideological possession. I see
them on the streets of Ottawa whenever I drive my wife to work. Great fat pierced
tattooed creatures with aposematic hair colouring to demonstrate to their old
white heterosexual oppressors like me just how fierce they are. Obviously, Satan
knows how to exploit their weaknesses. Woke women then become the agents through
whom Satan in turn attacks weak men. Weak men invariably will fall prey to their
calls for social justice which obviously include double mastectomies and
hormone therapy for minors who are being rendered sterile by their trans
perversion. I mean nothing says social justice like robbing children of the
ability to have children of their own let alone enjoy an orgasm since sexual
gratification will be off limits for anyone undergoing these chemical and surgical
castration procedures.
Obviously, such hermetic beliefs that are this difficult to
comprehend yet are so successful at gaining such attention in public discourse
must have deep ideological roots. Therefore, let us look at the framework for
WOKE ideology’s origins in German idealism. German idealism is a philosophical
movement that emerged in the late 18th and early 19th centuries which laid the
intellectual groundwork for some of the ideas that were later associated with authoritarianism
and totalitarianism. Here are some of the ways German idealism has seeded its philosophical
ideas:
1. *Hegel's Concept of the State*: Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel's
political philosophy, as articulated in works like "The Philosophy of
Right," emphasized the idea of the state as the highest expression of
human ethical life. While Hegel's ideas about the state were complex and not
necessarily totalitarian, they did lay the foundation for a strong state with
significant control over individuals' lives.
2. *Collectivism*: Some interpretations of German idealism,
particularly those influenced by Hegel's ideas, emphasized the collective over
the individual. This emphasis on the collective could be seen as a precursor to
later collectivist ideologies associated with totalitarianism.
3. *Historical Determinism*: German idealism often had a
teleological view of history, suggesting that history had a predetermined direction
and purpose. While not all German idealists believed in this determinism, some
interpretations of Hegel's philosophy could be seen as providing intellectual
support for historical determinism, which subsequent totalitarian regimes exploited
to justify their actions.
4. *Authority and Obedience*: The emphasis on authority and
obedience in some interpretations of German idealism could be exploited by
totalitarian regimes to legitimize their control over individuals and society.
The determinists and Marxists have emphasized the role of
impersonal forces in history, often minimizing the significance of individual
actions which is why WOKE demands obedience and conformity. "Woke"
ideology’s heightened awareness of perceived social and racial injustices are
linked to certain aspects of Kant’s and Hegel's philosophical ideas. Here's a
simplified overview:
1. Kant's Moral Philosophy: Immanuel Kant's moral
philosophy, outlined in works like the "Groundwork for the Metaphysics of
Morals," emphasized the importance of individual moral autonomy and the
categorical imperative, which states that individuals should act according to
principles that can be universally applied. While Kant's focus was on moral
duty and universal principles, some aspects of his philosophy, such as the idea
of moral autonomy, have been interpreted as contributing to discussions of social
justice and the demand to march in lockstep with those who share your ideas while
pillorying and vilifying those who notice that your morals are indeed immoral.
2. Hegel's Dialectical Idealism: Georg Wilhelm Friedrich
Hegel's philosophy, as expounded in works like the "Phenomenology of
Spirit" and "The Philosophy of Right," introduced concepts like
historical development through dialectical processes and the idea of the state
as an ethical entity, something which it almost invariably never is since some
of the greatest atrocities ever committed were done by the State against its
own citizens. As Thomas Paine famously asserted Government, even in its
best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state, an intolerable one.
Hegel's emphasis on historical development and the evolving
nature of society has influenced later thinkers in their discussions of social
change and progress too. Although it's essential to recognize that
"woke" ideology is a contemporary social and political movement that
has evolved over time it draws on philosophical ideas influenced by Kant and
Hegel who in turn influenced Cultural Marxist Critical Theory, postcolonialism,
feminism, and the civil rights movements, among others. It is fair to say it
could not operate as an ideology without use of dialectical synthesis which
originated with Hegel. The dialectic is like the computer operating system of
the radical left which is aimed straight at further marginalizing the most
persecuted minority of all, the freethinking, autonomous and sovereign individual.
These are the dark and impersonal forces of social collectivism which are
shaping the postmodern world and I for one will have none of it for I prefer to
be led by the Spirit of God as opposed to the godless spirit of out times!
